Like Wolfenstein, and Zombie Army 1-4, Call Of Duty: The Zombie Mode's Collective Mythology is surprisingly well researched, deeply thought out and filled with both ancient archiac knowledge of the occult and very contemporary forward thinking technological and psycho-spiritual philosophy. Much like the other zombie slaying titles listed above, the fourth wall is broken, detailed and well planned out details of multiverse and simulation theories at work throughout and connecting in bizarre unexpected ways all of the zombie levels together in a massive overarching plot which is mapped across human history and a tangible explorable multiverse without even entering into the exploration of the unconscious and the afterlife through spooky paranormal means and hidden or fictional technologies that allow such dimension bending travel possible. One could easily be completely bored with and quite over the idea of zombies or even the odd genre of Nazi Necromancy, and still find that all the other exotic ideas at work are enough to engage the intellect of even the most well read and counterculture players for hours, if not days of replay value.

 I don't want to jump to conclusions, spread fear, and most of all I must avoid riding the emotional coat tails of those who see these ideas as anti-Christian or even an intimate part of some fundamentalist Christian conspiracy theory about the Mark Of The Beast and such.   SCP SCP is a fan fiction driven collection of paranormal beings kept contained for scientific study by the SCP Organiazation. A search for SCP on Youtube brings up hundreds of examples of beings and phenomenon which SCP has interacted. This matters to games because Control and Remnant, games released months apart, seem to be aware and use this for the backdrop of their own narrative, a narrative which already also seemed aware of Beyond The Black Rainbow, X-Files, X-Men, Silent Hill, the Montauk Project, etc...   Prey-   (Both titles (note including VR version of latest Prey) Both of these games are really really weird. The first, which came out in 1996, starts in a comfortable setting seemingly almost too familiar and safe to the main character. It's a bar, somewhere in the western United States. In the bar, you are joined by a warm and wise almost pushing stereotypical Native American man. The man is up there in age and related to you, a grandfather if memory serves or the father of your ideal Native American girlfriend who works as a bartender in this location. This opening setting could be described almost as, simply hanging out, and at this juncture the mind sprints to guess how this is going to turn into some sort of horror, or science fiction, or I dunno...a videogame maybe.
